I really can't get into blogging... but wanted my readers to know why..
my hometown of Lumberton, lost a wonderful Law Enforcement Officer, yesterday morning
Shot dead as he attempted to 'serve and protect' even in his so called
OFF DUTY time.

The Final Inspection
The policeman stood and faced God,which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk is rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

So tragic.
Why was that creep not in jail where he belonged. So very, very sad.
Yes,it is very tragic. He / other officers could not fire back due to innocent people in close proximity to him.
Good question., unfortunately NOT the first time this sort of thing has happened because an evil person was not encarcerated...even more unfortunate is the fact, that it will not be the last time :(
When in Texas we lived directly across the street from a police officer who was killed on duty. He interrupted a robbery. It was an awful thing. It was awful for the wife, the son and the neighborhood. Our block was blocked off for days. It took weeks to catch the group. It was so sad.
Fortunately this guy, sat in the car (with a female and child) waiting at gun point til more backup and SBI arrived ..the others in car is why fire was not returned, otherwise I suspect there would be no need to incarcerate him and have a trial.
I simply pray that the jury selected does the right thing, and either puts him away for LIFE, or gives him the needle. Either could happen in NC.
I'm sad to hear this.
